EDM5213 - Lesson Study for Teacher Professional Development (2023)

The aim of this course is to familiarize students with the philosophy of lesson study, which is the property of the teacher, the professionalism of the teacher, the dialogue focused on learning from( students, the collaboration of the teacher, and the teacher's professional community, and provide the lesson study experience and the opportunity to discover its value. Students on this course will be able to:
● Understand the philosophy of Lesson study;
● Understand how lesson study is practiced in Japan and Brazil;
● Explore the factors to practice lesson study in Brazil;
● Reflect on your own understanding of teacher professional development and understand the importance of teacher collaboration in teacher professional development;
● Understand the lesson study procedure and conduct during the course.
