Schedule and deadlines for assignments

1. Blogs

You are expected to write at least 6 blog entries.

The first blog is your 'concept training' blog.

Then you are expected to watch the videos and read the materials on (i) ethnographic projects, (ii) field notes, (iii) interviews and (iv) visual methodologies.  You should write blog entries for each of these topics. You can vary the order in which you address these topics, depending on the nature of your chosen project, and you might decide to combine, say, 2 topics in one blog if you wish (though the blog will probably be longer). Just don't try to do too much in one blog! These blog entries will also reflect on your project as it is developing.

The final blog entry should be a reflection on your own ethnographic practices, informed by the final reading.

Suggested dates are:

Learning blog 1: Concept training (10th October)

Learning blog 2: 17th October

Learning blog 3:  24th October

Learning blog 4: 31st October

Learning blog 5: 7th November

Learning blog 6: 14th November

2. Project

There are two opportunities to present your project, in oral and then in written form.

Class presentation of project: 29th November

Upload final written project: 2nd December

3. Discussion forum

There is no time limit or deadline for the discussions. The idea is that you might wake up in the night with a brilliant idea, get up and post it before you fall asleep. However, it is recommended that you initiate and respond to discussion threads at least once a week. These are shorter, sharper contributions to a discussion or set of topics. They can be unanswered questions or critical comments, or simply observations that are relevant to the course - or suggestions of readings that you have found useful in your own searches.
