Obrigado. Dear students, See attached the info on today's seminar. We recommend watching the seminar live, to promote discussion and especially in case the lecturer won't allow us to share the recording. In the case of those recorded, we will make the link available in Moodle. Please, send us a question addressed to the lecturer and a comment about the topic of the seminar, through this platform, in up to a week after the seminar is presented. This activity is a way to register the grading for this course. Also note that we are inviting all lecturers to present in English, even though some may choose Portuguese at their own discretion. Thank you

Differential oxidation of protein tyrosine phosphatases play key regulatory roles in signaling cascades
Speaker: Luciana Machado, PhD
Protein phosphatases (PTPs or PPPs) act in a coordinated way on cell signaling pathways that play key roles in physiological and pathological processes. Cellular oxidants regulate different protein targets with multiple biological effects. Despite cytoplasmic PTPs have nearly identical 3D structures and sequences, each PTP has a unique oxidation profile. Although mitochondria represent one of the major sites of cellular oxidant production, redox regulation of mitochondrial protein phosphatases is still unknown.
Luciana Machado, PhD in Biological Chemistry at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. Postdoctoral Research Associate at Brown University and University of Arizona in Biochemistry and Structural Biology for three years. Postdoctoral at Institute of Chemistry, USP in bacterial cell division for almost three years. Currently a Young Scientist fellow at Institute of Biosciences, USP.
