    Ana Mª Briones AlonsoPerfil: Esta madrileña nacida en 1972 desarrolla su  investigación bajo un contrato Ramón y Cajal en el departamento de  Farmacología yAdipose tissue and vascular alterations

    Ana Briones carries out her research in the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics of the Faculty of Medicine of the Autonomous University of Madrid , where she also analyzes the drugs currently used in treatment to assess their efficiency, while experimenting with other possible drugs that may be in common use later. 

    She is part of the research group led by Dr. Mercedes Salaices, professor of the Department of Pharmacology at the Autonomous University of Madrid and director of the Research Group "Physiology and Vascular Pharmacology" of the IdiPAZ, as well as Corresponding Academic of the Royal National Academy of Pharmacy (RANF), constituted by researchers located in the Faculty of Medicine of the Autonomous University of Madrid, in the University Hospital La Pau and in the Faculty of Sciences of the Health of the University King Juan Carlos, as well as by collaborators of the Cardiovascular Research Network (RIC) and other national and foreign research centers.  The group investigates mainly: 

    • Oxidative stress, COIX-derived products and their interrelationship in the study of vascular function and remodeling. Changes in cardiovascular pathologies
    • Adipose tissue and vascular alterations in cardiovascular pathologies.

    In November 2010, she was awarded, along with four other scientists ( Isabel Lastres Becker , Elena Ramírez Parra , Mercedes Vila and Maria Antonia Herrero ), the L'oreal - UNESCO Prize "For Women in Science", with a endowment of € 15,000 which aims to reward the research work carried out by women under the age of 40 to support the role of women in science, to recognize it and to help reconcile work and family life.
