AUP5924 - Urbanization, plans e projects for São Paulo and the Brazilian cities: from the colony to the new urban frontiers

The course aims to provide an understanding of the urbanisation process in Brazil as a result of the specific conditions of the Brazilian society reproduction process from the colonial times to the present day. The city of São Paulo will be taken as the main case study. However, other Brazilian cities will also be studied, such as Salvador, Rio de Janeiro and Brasília. The role of the public and private sectors and the civil society in this process will be analyzed, as well as the formulation and implementation of policies, plans and projects for these cities
