Os objetivos da disciplina são:
1 - Que o aluno atinja um entendimento sobre o uso do mar sob os seguintes aspectos:
- Políticos;
- Ambientais;
- Legais e
- Práticos.
2 - Estimular a compreensão da importância da área marítima para o Brasil.
3 - Desenvolver a habilidade de navegar;
4 - Desenvolver a habilidade de manobrar embarcações;
5 - Associar esses conhecimentos com o projeto de um navio visando:
- Aspectos construtivos;
- Requisitos de projeto;
- Segurança de material;
- Salvaguarda da vida humana no mar; e
- Preservação do meio ambiente.
The goals of this discipline are:

3 - To develop the hability to navigate.
4 - To develop the hability to manouver small ships;

- Construtive issues;

- Safety of Life at sea; and
- Prevention of Sea Pollution.
